Lilja Dora Halldorsdottir
Iceland
The dogs of my childhood were my granny’s Icelandic sheepdogs. As a teenager I lived in England for a while where I became fascinated with individual characteristics of different breeds and in the early 90s I became very active in the small, but growing, Icelandic Kennel Club, teaching puppy- and obedience classes, serving on the board and on various committees. For many years I chaired the club’s show-committee and today I oversee the education of new judges for my club. I was awarded the gold pin and honorary membership of the Icelandic Kennel Club in 2017.
My breeds through the years have been the Labrador retriever, the Shetland sheepdog and the Australian shepherd. Icelandic sheepdogs also have a special place in my heart. As a breeder, I have mainly focused on the Shetland sheepdog where I have bred and owned BIG and BIS winners.
I became a judge in 2014, starting with breeds from group 1, 5 and 8 and I have been very fortunate to judge my breeds in several European countries. I am looking very much forward to judging in Helsinki this year!
