Finland

I’m a Finnish Spitz enthusiast and Finnish Spitz judge living in Lapua, Southern Ostrobothnia. I’ve had Finnish Spitz since late 1980s. Before that, I was involved with Finnish Hounds for some 15 years. Me and my dogs have competed in dog shows and working trials. I’ve also done some small-scale breeding (prefix Jyrkkäkallio). I have competed in bird barking trials with my dogs for the last 30 years and officiated as judge and chief judge several times.  I am also authorised to judge Hound and Elkhound working trials. I spend autumns with my dogs hunting fowl. On our hunting trips, we often travel to different parts of Finland. My favourite place is however Savukoski in Eastern Lapland. I have a tradition with my hunting mates to go there every autumn. I became a dog show judge in 2005, my first breed was Finnish Spitz. Today I am authorized to judge all breeds from groups 4,5, 6 and 7 and many breeds from group 8. Besides Finland, I have judged in England (three times), Poland and Russia.
