Zoltan Baffia

Hungary

Zoltan Baffia is a BMD breeder, an FCI judge, an engineer and the proud – and sometimes very tired – father of a herd of three energetic kids. Being a Bernese mountain dog owner since 1995, and gathering and processing information about the breed since then, he can be called an experienced expert on the breed with lot of practical and theoretical knowledge. The first litter under his prefix was born in 2000, which was followed by some successful litters and as a result, since then, several champions, specialty winners and also a World Winner were bred by him. Nowadays he is not as active in breeding in practice as he was before, but is still a BMD owner and keeps track of all the happenings in the BMD world, and he is always ready to help other breeders with his insight and experience on the issue. He has been actively taking part in the work of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Hungary for 15 years in different positions (board member, supervisor, breeding evaluation judge, etc.). Nowadays he helps the Club by judging at breeding evaluation tests, contributing to the development of the quality of BMDs in Hungary. He is also supporting the work of a local kennel club’s board located in the south-east part of Hungary, where he was born. After a long and thorough course he became an FCI judge of BMDs in 2011. Since then he had the honor to judge at several national, international and specialty shows in many different countries throughout Europe. It was a huge honour for him to judge his own breed in Switzerland at the specialty show of the World Union of Bernese Mountain Dogs in 2023.
